حين يُذكر الإعلام كفنٍ لصياغة الوعي وصناعة الحقيقة، يتقدم اسمٌ يفيض حضورًا وهيبةً الدكتور ياسر ثابت، ففي زمنٍ تتسارع فيه الأخبار وتضيع فيه التفاصيل بين صخب الشاشات، يبقى هناك من يُعيد للمشهد معناه، وللخبر وزنه، وللكلمة احترامها. وحين تُذكر الأسماء التي صنعت وعيًا إعلاميًا عربيًا يمتد أثره من المشرق إلى أقصى الغرب، يتقدم اسم الدكتور ياسر ثابت في الصفوف الأولى، كصوتٍ يحمل هيبة المهنة وعمق التجربة وصدق الحرف. لم يكن شغف د. ياسر ثابت بالإعلام وليد التجربة وحدها، بل نتاج رحلةٍ علميةٍ واثقةٍ امتدت من ضفاف القاهرة إلى قلب أوروبا، ثم إلى جامعات الولايات المتحدة. 

فقد تخرّج في كلية الإعلام بجامعة القاهرة، حيث صقل الموهبة بالمنهج، وتعلّم كيف تتحوّل الكلمة من فكرة إلى مسؤولية. وبعد أعوام من ممارسة عمله كصحفي في مواقع وتجارب مختلفة، اتجه إلى جامعة كارديف ويلز البريطانية لينال درجة الماجستير في الصحافة بامتياز، وهناك توسّع أفقه الأكاديمي ليجمع بين النظرية والتطبيق. ولم يكتفِ بذلك، بل واصل مسيرته حتى حصل على الدكتوراه في الصحافة من جامعة بارينغتون الأمريكية بمرتبة الشرف، متوّجًا جهده العلمي بمعرفةٍ رصينة جعلت منه نموذجًا للمثقف الذي يُزاوج بين الخبرة والبحث، وبين الممارسة والفكر.

ومن هذا الأساس الأكاديمي المتين، انطلقت رحلته المهنية بخطى واثقة نحو ساحات الإعلام الكبرى، حيث تحوّل العلم إلى ممارسة، والفكر إلى رؤيةٍ تُدار بها مؤسسات وتُبنى بها قنوات. هو ليس مجرد إعلاميٍ صعد في مدارج المهنة حتى بلغ ذروتها، بل مدرسة قائمة بذاتها، جمعت بين الصرامة المهنية، والنظرية العلمية، والرؤية الإنسانية التي تضع المتلقي في مركز الاهتمام. بدأ مسيرته من عوالم الصحافة الورقية، حيث تتشكل الحروف على الورق قبل أن تُلقى على الهواء، فتعلّم من رائحة الحبر ما لم تعلّمه الشاشات. ثم شقّ طريقه بخطواتٍ ثابتة في أروقة كبرى المؤسسات الإعلامية العربية والعالمية، ليُصبح خلال أكثر من ثلاثة عقود رمزًا للريادة الصحفية والتلفزيونية في العالم العربي. 

على امتداد هذه الرحلة، حمل د. ياسر خبرة تمتد نحو أربعين عامًا من العمل الدؤوب، تنقّل خلالها بين أبرز القنوات الإخبارية التي تُعدّ علاماتٍ مُضيئة في الفضاء الإعلامي العربي، من بينها العربية، سكاي نيوز عربية، الجزيرة، الحرة، والقاهرة الإخبارية. مصريًا، كانت له تجارب في قيادة غرف أخبار قنوات مثل القاهرة والناس والغد. لم يكن مجرد مسؤولٍ إداري أو رئيس تحرير في هذه المؤسسات، بل كان قائدًا لصناعة الوعي الإخباري، ومُنظّمًا لتدفق الحقائق، ومهندسًا للرؤية التحريرية التي تحفظ للمشاهد حقّه في المعلومة الصادقة والرؤية المتكاملة.

جمع في شخصه بين الحِرفية الصارمة والخيال الواعي، فصاغ من الخبر قصة، ومن التفاصيل الصغيرة مشهدًا متكامل الأبعاد. تولّى قيادة غرف الأخبار وإدارة التحرير في مؤسسات مرموقة، وأسهم في إطلاق وإدارة منصات رقمية ومواقع إلكترونية أحدثت نقلة في مفهوم الإعلام العربي الحديث. وتجلّى دوره الاستثنائي كمستشار أول للتحرير في قناة "القاهرة الإخبارية"، حيث أسّس لنهجٍ إعلاميٍ جديد يجمع بين المهنية العالية والحضور الوطني المسؤول، قبل أن يُعيّن لاحقًا مساعدًا لرئيس قطاع القنوات الإخبارية في الشركة المتحدة للخدمات الإعلامية، في خطوةٍ تُجسد الثقة في قدراته وخبراته الممتدة، وترسخ مكانته كأحد أبرز القيادات الإعلامية المصرية والعربية. 

ولأن التميز لا يأتي صدفة، فقد حصَد د. ياسر على مدار مسيرته الكثير من الجوائز والمِنَح الدولية من أرفع المؤسسات العالمية، تقديرًا لدوره في تطوير الفكر الإعلامي العربي وإثراء التجربة الصحفية العالمية. نال مِنحة شيفنينغ البريطانية المرموقة التي تُمنح لقادة الفكر والإعلام، كما حصل على جائزة اليونسكو لمشاركته في فعاليات دولية حول أخلاقيات الإعلام ومكافحة العنصرية. وتقديرًا لتميزه الأكاديمي والمهني، شارك كعضو هيئة تدريس ومحاضر في أكثر من سمينار وملتقى في سمينار سالزبورج الشهير للنقاشات الفكرية والإعلامية، كما نال جائزة الاتحاد الأوروبي "ميد ميديا" التي تُمنح للصحفيين الشباب المتميزين في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا. كانت هذه الجوائز والتكريمات اعترافًا صريحًا من مؤسسات علمية وإعلامية عالمية بقدراته الفريدة، وإشادة بمسيرته التي مثلت صورة مُشرفة للعقل المصري والعربي في المحافل الدولية.

ومع ذلك ظل في كل نجاح يزداد تواضعًا، مؤمنًا أن المجد الحقيقي لا يُقاس بعدد الألقاب، بل بمدى تأثير الكلمة وصدق الرسالة. عرفه زملاؤه في الوسط الإعلامي بأنه قائد - صارم في المعايير، لكنه رقيق في التعامل، صريح في وجه الخطأ، لكنه أول المصفقين للنجاح. يجيد إدارة الفرق التحريرية بحكمة القائد وخبرة الأكاديمي، واضعًا نصب عينيه أن الإعلام رسالة قبل أن يكون مهنة، ومسؤولية قبل أن يكون منبرًا. ولأنه يدرك أن الكلمة قد تُبنى أو تُهدم، فقد علَّم أجيالًا من الإعلاميين معنى الدقة والمسؤولية والدأب والالتزام، وأكّد أن الشفافية لا تتناقض مع الانتماء، وأن الموضوعية لا تُلغي الهوية. 

يعد د. ياسر أيضًا كاتبًا غزير الإنتاج، أغنى المكتبة العربية والعالمية بأكثر من مئة مؤلف باللغتين العربية والإنجليزية تنوعت موضوعاتها بين السياسة والإعلام والتاريخ والثقافة، فكان في كل ما كتب شاهدًا على تحولات العالم العربي، ومحللًا بارعًا لظواهره، ومؤرخًا موسوعيًا صادقًا لتجربته. في كتاباته، كما في برامجه تتجلى فلسفته في النظر إلى الإعلام باعتباره مرآة المجتمع وعقله الجمعي، لا مجرد أداة نقل للأحداث. لغته الأدبية المميزة، وقدرته على صوغ الأفكار المعقدة في نسق واضح وسهل، جعلتا منه محاضرًا وباحثًا مطلوبًا في كبرى الجامعات والمراكز التدريبية. شارك أيضًا في الكثير من الدورات والبرامج المتقدمة في مجالات التحرير التلفزيوني وإدارة غرف الأخبار، وألقى محاضرات حول أخلاقيات الإعلام وقيم المهنة، مؤكدًا أن الصحفي الحقيقي في الإعلام المرئي أو المطبوع أو المسموع لا يكتفي بمعرفة التقنية، بل يحمل رؤية تنحاز إلى الحقيقة وضميرًا يقظًا لا تّغريه الأضواء. 

ولأن القيادة لا تُقاس بالمناصب فقط، بل بالقدرة على الإلهام، فقد ترك د. ياسر أثرًا عميقًا في كل مؤسسة مر بها فأعاد تشكيل بيئات العمل، وبث روح الالتزام والانضباط في فرق التحرير وأرسى ثقافة الأداء المؤسسي الذي يقوم على الحوار والانفتاح والتطوير المستمر. كان دائم الإيمان بأن الإعلام الحديث لا يعيش بالعفوية، بل بالاستراتيجية والتخطيط والرؤية المستقبلية، وأن القنوات لا تُبنى بالميزانيات وحدها، بل بالعقول التي تُديرها. 

على المستوى الإنساني، يجمع في شخصه بين التواضع الكبير والهيبة المهنية بين الهدوء في الحضور والصلابة في المواقف. يؤمن بأن كل خبر يحمل وراءه حكاية إنسانية تستحق أن تُروى بصدق واحترام. هذه الفلسفة الإنسانية هي ما جعلته مختلفًا عن كثيرين.

when media is mentioned as the art of shaping consciousness and manufacturing truth, a name overflowing with presence and gravitas comes forward: Dr. Yasser Thabet. In a time when news accelerates and details are lost amid the clamor of screens, there remains one who restores its meaning to the scene, its weight to the news, and its respect to the word. And when the names that forged an Arab media consciousness, whose influence extends from the East to the furthest West, are mentioned, the name of Dr. Yasser Thabet advances to the first ranks, as a voice carrying the prestige of the profession, the depth of experience, and the sincerity of the letter. After years of practicing his work as a journalist in various roles and experiences, he headed to Cardiff University in Wales, UK, to earn a Master's degree in Journalism with distinction. There, his academic horizon expanded to combine theory and practice. Not satisfied with that, he continued his path until he obtained a Doctorate in Journalism from Barrington University in the United States with honors, crowning his academic effort with solid knowledge that made him a model of the intellectual who unites expertise and research, and practice and thought.

From this solid academic foundation, his professional journey launched with confident steps toward the major media arenas, where science transformed into practice, and thought into a vision used to manage institutions and build channels. He is not merely a media professional who ascended the stages of the profession until he reached its peak, but a school in itself, combining professional strictness, scientific theory, and a humanitarian vision that places the recipient at the center of attention. He began his career in the world of print journalism, where letters were formed on paper before being broadcast, learning from the smell of ink what the screens did not teach him. 

Then he steadily forged his path through the halls of major Arab and international media institutions, to become, over more than three decades, a symbol of journalistic and television pioneering in the Arab world.

Throughout this journey, Dr. Yasser carried an experience spanning nearly forty years of diligent work, during which he moved between the most prominent news channels that are considered bright beacons in the Arab media sphere, including Al Arabiya, Sky News Arabia, Al Jazeera, Al Hurra, and Al Qahera News. Nationally, he had experiences leading the newsrooms of channels like Al-Qahera Wal-Nas and Al Ghad. He was not merely an administrative official or editor-in-chief in these institutions, but a leader in the making of news consciousness, an organizer of the flow of facts, and an engineer of the editorial vision that preserves the viewer's right to honest information and a comprehensive vision.

He combined strict professionalism and conscious imagination, crafting a story from the news, and a complete, multi-dimensional scene from small details. He led newsrooms and managed editing in prestigious institutions, and contributed to launching and managing digital platforms and websites that brought about a shift in the concept of modern Arab media. His exceptional role crystallized as Senior Editorial Advisor at "Al Qahera News" channel, where he established a new media approach that combines high professionalism and responsible national presence, before being later appointed Assistant to the Head of the News Channels Sector at the United Media Services  company (UMS), a step that embodies confidence in his extended capabilities and expertise, and solidifies his position as one of the most prominent Egyptian and Arab media leaders.

And because excellence does not come by chance, Dr. Yasser has garnered many international awards and grants throughout his career from the highest global institutions, in appreciation of his role in developing Arab media thought and enriching the global journalistic experience. He received the prestigious British Chevening Scholarship, which is granted to leaders of thought and media, and also received the UNESCO Prize for his participation in international events on media ethics and anti-racism. In appreciation of his academic and professional excellence, he participated as a faculty member and lecturer in more than one seminar and forum at the famous Salzburg Seminar for intellectual and media discussions, and won the European Union's "Med Media" Award which is granted to distinguished young journalists in the Middle East and North Africa region. These awards and honors were an explicit recognition by global scientific and media institutions of his unique abilities, and an homage to his career which represented an honorable image of the Egyptian and Arab intellect in international forums.

Yet, in every success, he remained increasingly humble, believing that true glory is not measured by the number of titles, but by the extent of the word's impact and the sincerity of the message. His colleagues in the media circle knew him as a leader—strict in standards, but gentle in demeanor, frank in the face of error, yet the first to applaud success. He is adept at managing editorial teams with the wisdom of a leader and the experience of an academic, keeping in mind that media is a message before it is a profession, and a responsibility before it is a platform. Because he realizes that a word can build or destroy, he taught generations of media professionals the meaning of accuracy, responsibility, diligence, and commitment, and affirmed that transparency does not contradict belonging, and objectivity does not negate identity.

Dr. Yasser is also a prolific writer, who has enriched the Arab and international library with more than one hundred works in Arabic and English, whose subjects varied between politics, media, history, and culture.
